Undercover?

I went on a road trip a couple of days ago and got to look around a bit.
Most of the cities in which we work are islands of safety in an area surrounded by Taliban. So, as the picture here shows, the best thing I can do is to dress ‘local’ so that I blend in a bit. Not that I am going to pass for Afghan, but from a distance at least I don’t attract quite as much attention.

I originally thought that the vest was a fashion statement (which I had to make) but then I realized that I didn’t have any pockets in the pants, so I ended up putting all of pants stuff in my vest. And the scarf is also pretty useful, as you can pull it up over your head to block the sun, or over your face to block the dust. You can also use it clean your glasses, wipe off sweat, dry your hands after washing, and all matter of other tasks. It’s a pretty handy accessory, while at the same time being incredibly stylish.
