Hi there. This is Jon's son Matt, writing from the road as we travel down to Florida on I-95. I am writing to you thanks to the magic of internet nerds, who have written a program that turns my cell phone into a wifi hotspot wherever I am. Thank you internet nerds.
We are in the middle of nowhere in South Carolina, where it is a sunny 79 degrees. Jonny was smart enough to wear shorts when he left the house at 6 am today, while I am sweating it out in my jeans. The plan for tonight is to find a cheap hotel and watch basketball. Then tomorrow we're headed to Kissimmee, Florida to watch the Mets v. Astros spring training game. Monday, we'll be in Vero Beach for the last ever spring game at Dodgertown, and Tuesday we're checking out Nats/Tigers in Lakeland.
I-95, as always, is a treasure trove of semiotics. Apparently you can get cheap cigarettes, booze, towels, fireworks, peaches, grapes, ciders, and lap dances pretty much anywhere. Oh, and discount audio books. Sweet.
