Ok, I have decided to cancel my internet connection, the Washington Post, and stop watching the news. Why? Because I get all the news I need from DC cabbies, thank you.
My latest insight was riding with a cabbie—an older guy—from Kandahar, Afghanistan. So I ask the natural question: ‘Do you know Karzai?” (Karzai is from Kandahar).
“Yes. Of course. His grandmother and my grandfather were brother and sister”.
(Note: I leave the cousin-relationship of my cabbie to Karzai to any of the Kreisle girls reading this to figure out).
He then proceeds to rip Karzai for doing nothing for the past 4 years but make money from bribes and do nothing. The whole country is going to hell. The Taliban should come back—no, they were no good, but at least it was safe to be in Afghanistan.
He says the country had great possibilities. But Karzai blew it. ‘Democracy is crying.’ he says.
