As the Inauguration grows close, the anticipation is palpable. Walking around town, the flags are going up on light poles, bleachers have been assembled, big screen televisions are being erected along the Mall, and all over town, it is just about all that everyone it talking about. Meanwhile, the 'stage' for the inauguration--the west steps of the Capitol, are now backdropped by the US flags.
It is amazing that, amidst so much trouble economically and two wars, that so many are so optimistic. I wonder if this was the feeling my grand parents had when Roosevelt took office over 70 years ago?
