When I was in Kabul the other day, I stopped to do a little business with a local merchant. As I was standing there, I noticed this this blind street musician who walks through the town playing for tips. It was really a wonderful experience for me, and it reflects a lot about Afghanistan--the stacked tires (tire store), the big pole leaning against his shoulder (the cane he uses to tap his way along), the bicycles going by, the kids in the street pausing with their wheel barrow (everyone works in Kabul--especially the young) and the small shacks that make up the shops of Kabul.
You know, a lot of you wonder why I work in Afghanistan. Some of you even think I must be a little nuts (in fairness, you may have come to that conclusion independent of my Afghanistan activites). But how can some one not like experiencing this kind of stuff. I mean, how cool is this?
