Thanks for the Curtains Omid

I am headed home soon, and since the boat that I live on has a certain fishbowl feeling to it, I decided the time had come to buy some curtains. And of course, when people think of boat curtains, they can only think of one place in the world: Kabul.
There is a great craft shop here that makes a lot of handmade stuff, including furniture, carpets, clothes, handbags….and curtains. Thanks to my new pal Omid, who is just one of the most delightful and great guys ever, I am now the proud owner of 23 Roman shades, made in Kabul, for my boat in DC.
Omid really is a good guy. Just one of those people that you have to like; he is funny and helpful and smart. And when the country gets serious about rebuilding, it is going to have to find a way to engage young guys like Omid. Hell, given half a chance, he could probably make Kabul the curtain/placemat/napkin capital of the world.
