You don't hear much about crime or violence in Austria (well, except for that nasty little period during the 40s). Apparently, the dirty little secret is that skis are being stolen all over the country, especially from the elderly. As a result, these poor folks are left with just their ski poles, walking aimlessly through city and countryside, calling softly for the skis they will never again see. It is a sad sight, and terribly violent crime against the most vulnerable.
