Hard at Work in Old Delhi

I spent most of the day on Thursday walking through Old Delhi, which is a combination wholesale outlet, retail stores, flea market, and zoo. I can't imagine that there is much you can't buy in Old Delhi, and if they don't have it the stuff is probably going to be delivered shortly.

All of that activity requires a helluva lot of work, especially hand work, as trucks/bikes are unloaded, and material is delivered through the narrow and snarled street. Here are pictures of some of the folks who are busting their butt in Old Delhi.
Dude, I will carry your crap on my 3-wheeler, but do you really have to pile on?

Ok, at least the guy above didn't look so damn regal sitting on the 3-wheeler--and this guy has to actually push his bike.

Unloading the truck--the wrap is so the head-loads are cushioned

This guy is delivering strands of wire.

While these guys are taking a quick break.

As I was in the lighting district, I found out they pack stuff in straw. Better than those damn foam crinkles.

Inside, some real bid'ness is getting done.

'Screw for that hinge?' (Hi Janet)

Women sweeping.

Definitely a big shot--probably cornering the chili market.

Roof top bread making.

One nice thing about being a hand cart guy--you  always have a place to sit when there is a break.
