Walking through the Dubai airport, it is hard not to notice the way women are dressed. While some are fully covered, most are wearing a hijab that covers their head. The idea that 'Muslim' means 'conservative' just doesn't work in Dubai.
Minding my own business, my attention was drawn to a woman with very tight rolled-up jeans, flaunting a large bootay, 5" platform heels, more makeup than Maybelline, and of course, a hijab. Which reminded me that hey, 'Jeannie', she of belly dancing fame, was a Muslim. She had to be. Magic bottles and flying carpets? Definitely Middle Eastern, and that means Muslim.
So basically, the Muslims just have an image problem. Sure, some wear bourqas—but a lot of other Muslim women seem more closely aligned with Jeannie, who still gives me pleasant dreams!!
