Everywhere you look in Afghanistan, there are kids working—selling fruit, cell phone charge cards, washing cars, cleaning windshields—whatever it takes to survive. Even at the Herat airport, that has all of about 3 flights a day, kids serve as ‘porters’, carrying luggage to and from the airport. It is really heart-wrenching, as the kids all swarm you, looking for someone that will pay them 50 cents or $1 just to take their bag.
In between their work though, they are still just kids, hanging out.

The second picture shows that they have a bright future ahead working for the federal government.
