Loos--A New Year's Resolution

One of the highlights of my recent trip to Austria was to visit the original 'Loo', an underground public toilet originally designed by Adolf  Loos in Vienna. Loos is a famous designer in Vienna, and his toilet--which was designed 100 years ago for a cleaning supplier that wanted to show off how great his product was--has now become a landmark in Vienna. Indeed, as you will see below, Loo's Loo is a very classy place. I was reluctant to even do my business there.

If you ask why this is important, I know your name isn't Jon. "Gotta go to the 'john' has always been a terrible expression--but I want to highlight how unfair it is to Adolf  Loos, for it cheats him out of the credit he is rightfully due--for creating a great Loo.

Please join me in a New Year's resolution, and make sure that you, and all you know, please honor Adolph by doing your business at the Loo.*

*Technically, I guess you should be doing your business at the 'Loos' but then it sounds plural, and one might think that you have a bit of a gastrointestinal issue that would be unpleasant to be around. I mean, 'I am going to the Loos' will be met with some unpleasant stares. However, taking a little license and just calling it 'the Loo' should cover you, while not defaming the great contribution of Loos. And it's still a damn side better than 'John' in any case.
